Prepare/Enrich Program

Prepare/Enrich is a research-based program for couples preparing for long-term commitment. But it's also something broader than that - it’s a structured, supported opportunity to understand each other more fully, build honest foundations, and approach the next chapter with intention rather than assumption.

Couples come at many different stages. Some are preparing for marriage or engagement. Others are moving in together, starting a family, or navigating the complexities of blended family life. What they share is a desire to meet this moment thoughtfully.

Together we explore the patterns, histories and expectations each person brings around communication, conflict, intimacy, values, family and money. Not as a checklist, but as a genuine conversation about who you each are and what you are building together.

How It Works:

As a registered Prepare/Enrich facilitator, I guide couples through the full program. You begin with an online assessment that maps your relationship strengths and identifies areas worth exploring. That assessment then becomes the foundation of our sessions together, opening up conversations that can be surprisingly difficult to have without a structured space to have them.

The process isn't about evaluating your relationship. It's about understanding it more honestly, so you can build something that will evolve with you.

Common Questions:

  • Prepare/Enrich is a research-based assessment and counselling program for couples at a significant relationship milestone - preparing for marriage, moving in together, starting a family, or navigating a blended family situation. It begins with an online assessment that maps your relationship across key areas including communication, conflict, intimacy, finances, values and family of origin. Those results then form the basis of our guided sessions together.

  • No - and this is one of the most common misconceptions about the program. Prepare/Enrich was originally developed in faith-based contexts but is now widely used by couples of all backgrounds and beliefs, including secular couples, de facto partners, same-sex couples and those entering blended families. You do not need to be engaged or planning to marry

  • The program is typically delivered across three to six sessions, though this can flex depending on what comes up and what you want to explore. The first session follows your online assessment; subsequent sessions work through the results in a structured but conversational way. Sessions are 55 minutes and available in person in Fairfield or online.

  • The program involves a small fee for the online assessment (paid directly to Prepare/Enrich) plus the cost of our sessions at my standard rates - $220 during business hours and $240 for evenings and weekends. Get in touch and I can give you a clear picture of what the full program involves.

  • Yes. The initial assessment is completed online individually. Sessions can be held in person at my rooms in Fairfield or via secure video for couples anywhere in Australia.

  • Prepare/Enrich is one structured, assessment-based approach to premarital counselling. It's particularly well suited to couples who want clear insights and practical tools. It can stand alone or complement broader relationship counselling work.

  • Often the couples who benefit most are those who are doing well. The program isn't designed to fix problems - it's designed to deepen understanding and build skills before challenges arise. Many couples describe it as one of the best investments they've made in their relationship, precisely because they came from a place of strength rather than crisis.

  • Not at all. Many couples come at other moments - moving in together, navigating a life transition, entering a blended family, or simply wanting to invest in their relationship before any particular milestone. The program is valuable at any stage of committed partnership.
